OnePlus says Black Crush in OnePlus 8 Pro screens is a hardware defect; It will replace OnePlus 8 Pro that has black crush issues
A week ago we had pointed out how few OnePlus 8 Pro buyers are complaining about having black crush and green tint issues with their newly bought smartphones. There were several posts on Reddit and OnePlus forums during which OnePlus 8 Pro buyers vociferously complained about their new smartphones malfunctioning either with a green tint or a black crush.
What is a black crush and how does it affect your OnePlus 8 Pro?
If you have recently bought an OnePlus 8 Pro, you should look carefully at your smartphone screen for the “black crush” It refers to a screen issue in which various dark shades displayed inaccurately. As a result, dark sections of videos or images can appear with blocks or black, pixelated, or grainy, which is quite the opposite of what you’d expect from a top-notch, high-resolution display.
OnePlus buyers also reported green tint issue with both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. As the green tint is a software issue, OnePlus today released a fix through OxygenOS update 10.5.6. This update will come to your newly bought OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro through OTA.
Black Crush Fix?
However, the black crush issue is not resolved by OxygenOS 10.5.6 as reported by many users on the OnePlus forum. For the Black Crush issue on your OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus says it is a hardware issue and replacement of the damaged smartphone is the only answer. OnePlus has admitted the same on Reddit forum and has given OnePlus 8 Pro buyers three options: repair, refund, or a replacement.
The post has been corroborated by other users on the forum. But do remember, OnePlus has not issued any official statement as such. If you have a black crush on your OnePlus 8 Pro you should approach the OnePlus service gallery as there is anyhow a 30-day replacement warranty.
We have reached out to OnePlus for a statement and will keep you updated.
