If you own a Redmi brand of smartphone from Xiaomi, you are in for a little surprise during the lockdown. According to sources, most Xiaomi top level, middle level, and budget smartphones will receive MIUI 12 update within the next week.
Some of the Xiaomi smartphones to be updated to MIUI 12 are Redmi K30, Redmi K20 Pro, and Redmi K20, Redmi 8 Pro, Redmi Note 8, Redmi 7 Pro, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7s Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, Redmi 7, and Redmi 7A. The brand new Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, as well as the Mi 9, Mi 9SE, Mi 9 Pro are also expected to get the MIUI 12 update. Other models include the Mi 8, the discontinued Mi CC9 Pro, Mi CC9, Mi CC9e, Xiaomi Mix 3, Mix 2s, and Mix 2 will also get the MIUI update.
The new next-generation custom ROM MIUI 12 for Xiaomi smartphones was in works since January 2020 and has been undergoing trials since March. Since January, news about MIUI 12 has been popping over websites but nobody could confirm the launch date. Even though Xiaomi is yet to announce the commencement of beta test or any release date, a list of the Xiaomi models that will possibly be among the first set of models to get MIUI 12 has appeared online.

Xiaomi is expected to release MIUI 12 updates for the majority of its brands but the smartphone models listed above will be the first to get the update once it is rolled out. That explains why some models such as the first-gen Xiaomi Mix is conspicuously missing from the list. Remember, those Xiaomi smartphones who don’t get an MIUI 12 update now will get updated later on.
