Pi-Top launches new generation Raspberry Pi laptop with a slidable keyboard and hackable innards
If you want to learn a combination of hardware, software, and tools you have to look no further. Until now learning software, programming and tools were easy on a PC or a laptop but if you wanted to know the innards of your PC/laptop you needed a screwdriver set and knowledge about which wire not to touch. Now, Pi-Top, a London-based company that makes Raspberry Pi-powered laptops has made it easy for you to learn software as well as the hardware part of your computer easily. How? pi-Top’s new laptop has a slidable keyboard which when pulled reveals the hardware of the laptop. You can now hack your computer as you like it.
Pi-Top’s new laptop is a top of the draw laptop with a large 14-inch 1080p screen. The new Pi-Top laptop is based on the Raspberry Pi 3 and packs a quad-core 1.2Ghz ARM CPU, 1GB of RAM. For connectivity, the Pi-Top laptop has Wi-Fi and BlueTooth. In addition, it boasts between eight to ten hours of battery life.
As said above, the most interesting part is the device’s keyboard. At first glance, the Pi-Top looks like a conventional laptop. However, you can slide it out to reveal a tray, which exposes the device’s hardware and lets you hack your Top-Pi laptop and add/remove hardware as you deem fit.
“Pi-Top’s mission is to provide powerful, inspiring products that bring science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics to life,” said Jesse Lozano, CEO of Pi-Top. “Our newest-generation of modular laptops helps achieve that goal. Now, anyone from young musicians to scientists to software developers to inventors can explore and create wonderful new projects using the Pi-Top laptop. We’re offering learning beyond the screen and keyboard, enabling wider exploration of computer science and basic electronics, ensuring that young learners have the opportunity to be inspired by a world of STEAM-based learning.”
