PUBG Mobile updates Privacy Policy for Indian Gamers following Ban concerns

Under pressure from Indian Government forces, PUBG Mobile to update Privacy Policy for Indian Gamers

As we reported earlier, the Government of India banned 47 more apps that were seemingly clones of the apps in the earlier ban list. Moreover, another list of 275+ apps with Chinese connections is being investigated for any violation of “national security and user privacy”, according to a separate report. This List also includes the world popular multiplayer game PUBG Mobile and the popular e-commerce platform Alibaba.

We reported earlier, why should PUBG Mobile be banned? As you know PUBG Mobile is a Chinese App. But that is not the reason we are calling on the Government of India to ban PUBG Mobile. Two researchers, Talal Haj Bakry and Tommy Mysk have proved beyond doubt that PUBG Mobile accesses the iPhone clipboard data without the users’ permission. The clipboard is used for pasting your banking login data, email ids, passwords, messages, chats, emails, etc. and this data could be relayed back to the command and control servers located in China.

Yes, PUBG Mobile game is owned by a Chinese multinational, Tencent. While the original PC/console version of the game was released in 2017, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground by a South Korean video game company called Bluehole. Bluehole later collaborated with Tencent Holdings to develop PUBG Mobile. Later Bluehole opted out of the partnership and Tencent is the sole publisher of PUBG Mobile.

Now after the Government of India banned 47 cloned Chinese apps and started to investigate another 275+ Chinese apps that can affect national and user privacy with the existence of the PUBG Mobile and Alibaba on the list, the multiplayer game- PUBG Mobile has started to push an in-game notification that says they have updated the Privacy Policy for Indian gamers. Below is the screenshot of the same.
