You can still use OnePlus 8 Pro “See Through” color filter camera with ADB command; here is how to do it
When OnePlus launched its flagship Android smartphones, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, two things stood out. One was the 120Hz refresh rate and second was the unique ‘see-through‘ photo chrome camera filter which let the OnePlus 8 Pro users see-through plastic objects. Some even claimed that the feature could be used to see through clothes. The unique see-through feature of the OnePlus 8 Pro has also been the most controversial one.
After the public outcry, OnePlus disabled the see-through photo chrome camera filter with OxygenOS 10.5.9 only to bring it back with Oxygen OS 10.5.10 update. But the update did not restore the feature fully. Many OnePlus 8 Pro users noted that the Photochromatic filter now needs more light to capture good pictures, unlike the original version.
Thankfully, good folks at XDA Forums have found out a way to make the original photo chrome filter appear in OnePlus 8 Pro Android smartphones in its original form.
How to make enable the original see-through photo chrome feature in OnePlus 8 with ADB command
The way to get back the original photo chrome filter camera with the see-through feature on OnePlus 8 Pro is fairly easy. If you own an OnePlus 8 Pro Android smartphone, you need to open the Factory Mode app via ADB. Here is how to do it.
- Turn on USB debugging on your OnePlus 8 Pro. You can do this by:
> System
- You need to have ADB installed on your PC. Download Windows/macOS/Linux version of ADB from here.
- Now connect your OnePlus 8 Pro to PC with a USB cable and open the command line.
- Type “adb devices” in the command line and press enter to see if your PC/laptop recognizes your OnePlus 8 Pro.
- If it is recognized, type “adb shell” in the command line and press enter.
- Then type, “am start -n com.oneplus.factorymode/.camera.manualtest.CameraManualTest” and again press enter.
This will start the Factory mode app on your OnePlus 8 Pro. Tap on the camera switcher icon in the bottom right corner and select the 4th camera filter.
That’s it, now you can use the original see-through photo chrome filter on your OnePlus 8 Pro. Doing the above doesn’t affect any other part of your OnePlus 8 Pro or reset your smartphone. It just takes the camera version back to it original form. Contrary to belief, the OnePlus 8 Pro x-ray/see-through effect cannot see through clothes and can be reproduced only on very thin plastics sheet things.
