TikTok takes a dip as Indian rival ‘Chingari’ debuts with 2.5 million downloads in a week
The raising border tensions between India and China have led to multiple campaigns that have encouraged Indians to go further with Made in India projects. We have also reported the list of 53 Chinese Android Smartphone/iPhone apps red-flagged by Intel agencies that you should remove/uninstall immediately. We also saw a boycott Chinese app published, unfortunately, Google removed it from the Play Store after a week. Now India-made Chingari has tapped into space and already crossed 2.5 million downloads in a week.
Chingari has been developed by a Chhattisgarh-based developer and is billed as the Indian version of TikTok, which is popular in the world of digital entertainment. Along with its Bhilai-based chief of product, Sumit Ghosh, the app also has developers from Odisha and Karnataka.
Chingari was released on Google Play in 2018, and, according to Ghosh, it was developed keeping in mind the requirements and demands of an Indian user. “We are receiving an overwhelming response from Indian users and as per recent stats, the app has more than 25 lakh plus downloads,” said Ghosh.
Well, the best part of the app is that it also shares Trending news, Entertainment news, Funny videos, Video Songs, Wishes, Love quotes, Status Videos, Good morning, Good night Shayaris, Clips and Memes.
This is the only social application developed in India which is a complete rival to TikTok app. The app (Chingari) is vernacular and available in multiple languages, including regional languages
Chingari also has features like trending news, entertainment news, funny videos, video songs, wishes, love quotes, status videos for WhatsApp, etc. So far, over 10,000 creators are making entertaining content using this platform every day. The app gives users a chance to browse through a variety of entertaining and informative short videos and also gives options to download them, like them, share them with friends and family. Besides, it also allows users to be creative so that they can come up with entertaining videos through this platform.
