Here is why Microsoft does not want you to disable Windows 10 Defender

Microsoft does not want its users to disable the default Windows 10 Defender

Windows Defender is a software developed by Microsoft for scanning and making your device anti-malware component. Initially, the Windows defender was released with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and came to Windows 10 later when launched. Windows Defender is now an integral security component of Microsoft’s latest operating system.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 defender offers a suite of anti-malware tools that are enabled by default when Windows 10 is installed and booted up. The Windows 10 defender also provides its users Real-Time protection in terms of security. However, people with existing third-party antivirus and cybersecurity packages might want to use them instead of the Windows Defender. But Microsoft does not want its users to disable the default Windows 10 defender, here is why?

If you use Windows from the times of Windows 7 then you must be knowing that Microsoft allows users to disable the Windows 10 defender app completely but Windows 10 doesn’t allow to do that. This means Windows 10 lets you turn off Microsoft’s real-time protection, but that isn’t a permanent solution, and Windows will automatically turn on real-time protection in the future. It is also worth knowing that the company allows advanced users to disable Windows Defender Antivirus completely by editing Group Policy and Windows Registry.

But starting with August 2020 update (version 4.18.2007.8) the company said in the update that it has discontinued ‘DisableAntiSpyware’ the technique advanced users used for disabling Windows 10 defender permanently this means values entered by the user will be ignored.

This setting is discontinued and will be ignored on client devices, as of the August 2020 (version 4.18.2007.8) update to Microsoft Defender Antivirus. DisableAntiSpyware specifies whether to disable Microsoft Defender Antivirus. Microsoft Defender Antivirus is an application that can prevent, remove, and quarantine malicious software, including spyware.

So basically Microsoft does not want you to use any Third-party apps for protecting as its default Windows 10 defender does better. As a personal experience from me, Windows 10 defender is the best software that can protect from you any threats, the real-time protection provided by the company blocks any malware while installing an app or browsing on a website.
