The hacks are still ongoing at the time of writing, but we were told Reddit’s security team is aware of the issue and has already begun restoring defaced channels.
ZDNet has also provided a list of affected Reddit channels which include the NFL, many TV shows, The Pirate Bay, Disneyland, Disney’s Avengers, several city channels, and more.

As per the reports, the hack came after Reddit banning the r/The_Donald channel back in June. The channel was made for Trump followers and was banned because the channel was breaking its community rules after reports of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence, stated Reddit.
Going further on the matter Reddit said that it is aware of the misleading activity and is working to recover the channels. Reddit also said that all the Mods were further informed to get the Two-factor Authentication (2FA) enabled for their accounts.
It is found that after taking control of the account, the attacker changed his subreddit’s CSS stylesheet, deleted all mods with fewer permissions than him, and changed the community’s wiki. Lastly, the hacker published a message, “We Stand With Donald Trump #MIGA2020.”
Back in July, we also reported that nearly 1,200 Roblox accounts were fraudulently intercepted by a hacking group who were flooding the popular children’s gaming platform with the propaganda filled with an Avatar wearing MAGA signs and urging the parents of the kids to “Vote for Trump this year !#MAGA 2020”.
The company lastly stated that since the source of the attacks were compromised moderate accounts, they are currently trying to restore affected communities and lockdown compromised mod accounts.
