Facebook spent $23.4 million or Rs.178 Crores in 2019 on keeping its Mark Zuckerberg safe and secure
It has been well-publicized that Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg takes only $1 towards salary for working as the Chief Executive officer of the world’s top social networking website. It has also been publicized that Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan through their Chan Zuckerberg Initiative are big donors or various poverty elevation programs around the world. However, Mark Zuckerberg is also a big spender of Facebook money for his own security and travel. According to an SEC filing published on Friday, Facebook spent more than $23 million or Rs.178 crores on security and private air travel for CEO Mark Zuckerberg in 2019.
That is not all, Mark Zuckerberg needed an extra $2.95 million for private aircraft costs which were borne by Facebook. The social networking king certainly lives life kingsize when it comes to security and travel. Compared to 2018, Facebook spent about $4 million more on Zuckerberg’s security and travel. Remember, Zuckerberg’s annual salary remains $1. According to the filing, “approximately $10,463,717” are spent by Facebook for “costs related to personal security for Zuckerberg at his home and during his personal travel.” It also includes an additional $10 million required to protect him and his family. For comparison, Facebook spent $9.95 million on private security in 2018 and $7.5 million in 2017.
While Zuckerberg gets $1 salary for running Facebook, his chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg took home a little over $875,000 in base pay excluding perks and bonuses. She received a $902,740 bonus on top of the salary and a whopping $19.67 million in stocks.
