College Professor accidentally shares “Busty College Girl” bookmark during Zoom online classes, goes viral on TikTok

This Coronavirus lockdown period is one of the worst times that humanity had to undergo in recent times. Yet in times like this, some odd things happen. We have had a woman undressing and jumping on a patrol car because she was caught by the police for breaking the lockdown and multiple spitting cases by the corona virus infected.  We have had people using ZoomBombing and ZoomRaiding to harass innocent Zoom users during the video meetings.

Now we have this!

As you know, most colleges and universities have started taking online classes for making up the syllabus due to the lost period of Coronavirus lockdown. If you are a student, it is pretty common for your college/university to take online classes. This is in fact, a good way to keep the students engaged. But in Miami, the case was somewhat different. A Professor from University of Miami accidentally shared what he was engaged with, to a full online Zoom class.

A Professor from University of Miami accidentally shared his own lurid bookmark to his class during an ongoing class. Mistakes happen but this was horrible because the Professor accidentally shared his “busty college girl” bookmark that he saved in his browser to students during an online business analytics class on Zoom.

If you are into websites, you will know that bookmarks are used to save webpages that you often want to visit during leisure.

The Professor was reported to the authorities by one of the participants of the Zoom business analytics class. And it times of social networking the matter could hardly be hidden. The participant made a TikTok video of the incident and shared it online. According to the student newspaper, Miami Hurricane the incident went rival immediately after the participant shared a screenshot of the “Busty College Girl” bookmark.

The student who posted the viral TikTok video felt bad for the professor after the video went viral. “I felt bad about the attention it was getting,” he said. He deleted his post after he realized how active it was. Expressing remorse over many of the comments aimed towards Zhang on various online pages, he continued, “I didn’t want him to lose his job…I thought he would be fine…I felt really bad for him.”

After the controversy, the Professor resigned and is no longer working for the University of Miami. The University of Miami released a statement saying,

“The University of Miami aggressively investigates all complaints of inappropriate behavior or sexual harassment. After receiving a complaint through the University’s ethics hotline, the incident was investigated by the Office of the Provost, Title IX investigator and Miami Herbert Business School. The University can confirm that John Peng Zhang resigned and is no longer employed at the University of Miami”

As you know there are always the students who are sympathetic to the Professor. They have started an online petition to bring back the Professor. The petition has already been signed by nearly 2900 people and has a target of 5000 signatures. It says,

“People make mistakes, are sexual beings, and should not be fired when no true porn was shared. We no longer live in the 18th century and individuals are allowed to have a personal, sexual life. This was obviously a mistake.”

While genuine mistakes do happen all the time, it is of vital importance to look at the incident such as this with a magnifying glass. A professor who teaches in a class filled with young students has a hidden bookmark that reads “Busty College Girls”is not a healthy sign. But then there are those who say that a person is entitled to do whatever he/she wants during their private time.

Where do you stand on this issue? Should the professor be rehired to teach young boys and girls?

Share.
