Apple’s second-largest manufacturer Pegatron announces the start of its business operations in India
Pegatron Corporation is a Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company that develops mainly computing, communications, and consumer electronics to branded vendors, but also engages in the development, design, and manufacturing of computer peripherals and components. Pegatron is the second-largest manufacturer of Apple after Foxconn and the announcement by the company in a declaration states that it has begun its India operations with the appointment of statutory auditors and transfer of Rs 99 lakh for an initial subscription of equity shares.
The reports from various media channels say that the company has appointed BSR & Co as statutory auditors for the financial year ending March 31, 2021. It was also known that as per regulatory filings of the company, Chui Tan Lin, CEO of Pegatron Corporation Taiwan, and Akhilesh Bansal were appointed the Directors of India business.
Well, you must be knowing that manufacturers of American phone and electronics maker Apple, Foxconn, and Wistron are already present in India. Pegatron is one of the three companies from the contract for making Apple iPhones.
Other reports mention that earlier in this month the Indian government committee has already approved $100-billion mobile export proposals from Apple’s largest iPhone assembler Foxconn, Pegatron, and Wistron as well as Samsung, Karbonn, Lava, and Dixon.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 will be soon be manufactured exclusively in India and will be available for sale in mid-2021. According to the report, Apple and Wistron have been working on this change for quite some time, and more recently, trial production of the iPhone started at the new plant. Wistron is looking to hire as many as 10,000 skilled workers in India to meet Apple’s iPhone 12 production estimates.
