How to flash/root Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2/Prime
Chinese company Xiaomi launched its Note Series 2nd model Redmi Note 2, along with Redmi Note 2 Xiaomi also launched Redmi Note Prime. These Chinese model had a successful launch in China and India, as looking at the current situation of Android Smartphone market the features of Redmi Note 2/Prime are being outdated. So flashing/rooting your Redmi Note 2/Prime can make you happy with getting extra permission, customization and much more.
In this article, we will guide how to flash/root Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2/Prime. After flashing/rooting customise your Redmi Note 2/Prime as they way you want using this article.
Note: Flashing/rooting your Android smartphone voids warranty and not following the flashing/rooting procedure properly may brick your Redmi Note 2/Prime Android smartphone.
Important: – Before flashing it is advised to take the backup of data and make sure that your phone battery is charged enough.
Preparation:
- Xiaomi USB Driver or VCOM Driver
- SP Flash Tool
- Fastboot ROM (Download from link above)
- Redmi Note 2/Prime
- Laptop or Desktop PC
- Xiaomi USB cable
Note:
- Please Back Up your files before flashing Fastboot, as it will erase all your data!
- Download links are at the end of the installation guide.
- Fastboot Mode is not needed for this flashing method.
- You can use this method to unbrick your phone!
- For the user with Window 8 and above, you should read here about the driver.
Step 1:
Download and install Android USB Drivers or follow the guide here to install VCOM Driver.
Step 2:
Power off your Redmi Note 2 and remove the battery from it. (You can choose not to remove it, but make sure it has at least 50% battery)
Step 3:
Download Fastboot ROM and extract it into your PC.
Step 4:
Download and extract SP Flash Tools on your PC
Step 5:
Right click on Flash_tool.exe and click “Run as administrator”.
Step 6:
After launched SP Flash Tools, click on Scatter-Loading.
Step 7:
Locate the Scatter file named “MT6595_Android_scatter.txt” in your Fastboot ROM folder. It can be found in the images folder.
Step 8:
Now, press Download as shown in the picture below.
Note:
This might lag for few minutes as SP Flash Tool is finding for your device.
Step 9:
Now connect your phone to PC through USB cable, then press volume up button once/twice.
Note: Replug your phone if there’s no Red Bar appeared in flash tool.
Step 10:
Once your device is detected, you will see a Red bar below the tool, and wait for the yellow bar to reach the end.
Step 11:
A big green tick will appear when flashing progress is finish.
Step 12:
Insert your battery and reboot your phone.
Step 13:
Please be patient as first-time reboot needs at least 2-3 minutes.
Congrats, you have successfully flashed a fastboot ROM on your Redmi Note 2!
